Letchworth Business Improvement District (BID) - also known as 'Love Letchworth' - has announced a new manager.

Richard Harbon will take on the role from March 2023, having been involved in community organisations, and arranged a number of events in the town, for the last 20 years.

Richard has worked with the Love Letchworth team as a part-time events organiser for several months, having helped deliver the Letchworth Christmas Lights Switch On, in November 2022.

Mr Harbon has previously organised the Muddy Mayhem challenge, the Christmas Tractor Run, Standalone 10k and Run Round the Garden.

Upon taking the role, he said: "I’m excited to have been appointed as manager of Love Letchworth.

"I’ve been involved in the local community for a long time, and want to celebrate the many things that Letchworth has to offer.

"The Love Letchworth team and I have lots of enthusiasm, energy and ideas.

"We’re looking forward to working with the local traders and the people of Letchworth to deliver a fun-filled year that puts Letchworth on the map."

Letchworth BID's Punit Shah said: "We are delighted to welcome Richard Harbon as the new manager of Love Letchworth.

"It’s fantastic to have such an experienced, respected and well-connected person steering Letchworth town centre’s future.”

The appointment of Richard Harbon comes after the organisation's former manager was jailed for attempting to smuggle drugs into prison.
