Multiple people have been injured after a violent brawl involving weapons broke out in a residential street in Hitchin.

Herts police were called at around 9.30pm on Saturday following a disturbance in Common Rise.

"It was reported that a group of males had attended an address and a fight involving various weapons had ensued, resulting in people sustaining injuries," a Herts police spokesperson said.

"The offenders then left the scene, as well as the injured parties."

Police officers searched the area, with assitance from the dog unit and police helicopter, Herts police said.

The Herts police spokesperson said: "Two males later presented at hospital with injuries which are believed to have been sustained during the incident. They are not being treated as life-changing or life-threatening.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around what happened and to trace those involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact police."
