A school in Letchworth has put on a week of special activities to help children and staff to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

Hillshott Infant & Nursery School organised Feeling Good Week to help promote wellbeing through kindness and connection, with plenty of activities, including a dance workshop and music workshop, put on for the children to enjoy.

The school also connected with the community when a group of Year 2 children baked cakes and took them to Macfadyen Webb House, a retirement home in Norton Way.

The children sang a song, read stories and chatted with the residents, with one sharing his military past with the children.

Back at Hillshott, children baked sweet treats for families who were invited to the 'Hillshott Café' at the end of the week, with Year 2 Children, helped by the Friends of Hillshott, served refreshments.

Holly Smith, co-chair of the Friends of Hillshott, said "It was so fantastic to see lots of families getting together for a cuppa, cake and a chat.

"It’s not often parents get to meet for more than five minutes in the playground so having some dedicated time to connect has been marvellous."

Headteacher, Melissa Peacock, added: "The children have loved all the activities this week which were made possible from our dedicated hard-working staff and successful grant application from CAMHS - Healthy Young Minds in Herts.' put forward by Hertfordshire County Council."
