At Citizens Advice North Herts (CANH), we're proud of our Student Work Experience programme. You’d expect us to say that, but here are a couple of comments from recent participants in the scheme.

"There is no other place that will feel as rewarding and like you are making a real impact" Isabel, Year 13

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my work experience and found it to be incredibly fulfilling" Alastair, 2nd Year Uni Student

These are just a couple of comments from students who have worked with us previously.

Our programme provides you with the chance to learn about CANH and really work alongside our fantastic team of paid staff and volunteers. You'll be gaining new skills and it’s a fantastic addition to your CV.

We’ll provide you with practical tips on how to make the most of your work experience and support you throughout your time with us, so don't worry if this is your first time in the workplace.

All our students have personalised, tailor-made programmes which have a blend of tasks and activities giving you as much relevant experience as possible.

There are 3 areas to choose from: Reception and Office Skills, Advice Services, and Research and Campaigns, depending on where your interests lie. We’ll help find the right role for you, and your time with us will be rewarding and enjoyable.

Whichever area you choose, you will be given the opportunity to grow your skills and help make a real contribution towards helping people in our community.

Depending on which pathway you choose, you could be registering clients or listening to their stories while observing our advisers work.

You could attend pop-up events with the Community Engagement team or even write articles for local newspapers and websites. We also include a mini project, just for you, like designing and creating a poster to promote volunteering to younger people.

This gives you concrete evidence of your contribution when asked at future work or college interview.

Once your work experience is complete, you’ll receive a certificate of completion to add to your CV. And if you really enjoy your time with us, there's always a chance to visit us again for more work experience, or even join our volunteering team.

So, if you’re looking for an enjoyable and rewarding work experience opportunity - give us a shout by emailing Sacha Colman at volunteering@nhdcab.org.uk

We can’t wait to have you join us!
