The idiot fan who ran on the pitch during Stevenage's home game with Bradford City has been arrested the club confirmed and issued a ban from the Lamex.

The man came onto the field of play moments after Bradford had scored their winning goal in a 3-2 defeat for the hosts.

He made a beeline for City's Andy Cook and was only stopped by the quick thinking of Michael Bostwick who bodychecked him to the floor.

Boro team-mate Alex Gilbey then had to frogmarch the offender away, not once but twice, as the response of the home stewards was woefully inadequate.

Stevenage have now put a statement on their website explaining what has happened in the 24 hours since and the steps currently being taken.

The club said: "[We can] confirm that action is being taken against the individual who entered the pitch during Saturday’s fixture against Bradford City.

"Entering the pitch is a criminal offence and puts players, officials and supporters at great risk.

"This is not tolerated at the Lamex Stadium.

"Football stadiums should be a safe and enjoyable space for everyone and these incidents are completely unacceptable and have no place in our game.

"The individual has been arrested, issued a ban from the Lamex Stadium and the club are working closely with the police and their investigation.

"We are also reviewing the stewarding response and protocols following the incident.

"We appreciate your continued support and atmosphere created at the Lamex Stadium."
