Over £2,000 was raised during the 'climb Everest' challenge, which will help to fund 10 additional lines at Hitchin's Priory School, on Bedford Road.

The new wall will be built over three weeks this month (February 2023), and will see the wall increase from seven lines to 17.

A more diverse selection of climbing holds have been introduced, which are intended to replicate both outdoor and competition climbing styles.

The club's co-founder Ben Morgan-Gray said: "We’re very excited about doubling the size of our climbing wall.

"We’ve worked really hard with our volunteers to make Climb Hitchin a success as we really believe in the power of climbing in the community.

"The expansion will help us bring climbing to more people – young and old alike."
