A horticulturally-based social enterprise and community interest company has set up a community initiative to plant hundreds of tulip bulbs around Hertfordshire.

Waste Not Want Not Community Nursery, based in Stevenage, hopes to celebrate King Charles' coronation by showcasing a tulip trail within our community.

Around 66 Hertfordshire schools, scout groups, care homes, gardening clubs and other organisations contacted the charity to each have at least 100 bulbs planted by the end of February.

The non-profit organisation said: "We hope you can be creative in your planting to celebrate the Kings Coronation."

In conjunction with Rochford Garden Centre based in Hertford, all the organisations will be receiving the bulbs this month.

A competition will also be held where the top three organisations to plant their bulbs in a creative manner will win plants from the Waste Not Want Not Community Nursery.

King Charles II's coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6, by which time the tulip bulbs will have bloomed into brightly coloured flowers.
