Hitchin Chamber Orchestra is welcoming warmer weather with its Serenade to Spring concert.

Following on from two sell-out jazz Christmas concerts, the chamber orchestra will perform their spring concert at St Mary's Church in Hitchin at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 18.

The concert will feature Tchaikovsky's iconic Serenade for Strings, as well as Mozart's Divertimento in F major and the Nocturne from Borodin's string quartet no.2.

Conductor Trevor Hughes will guide audience's through the evening's programme, which also includes Glen Miller's Moonlight Serenade.

Tickets bought in advance cost £12 for adults and £6 for children and students, while tickets on the door cost £14 for adults and £7 for children and students.

Membership of Hitchin Chamber Orchestra is drawn locally from North Herts and South Beds, with a mix of accomplished amateur players, professional instrumental teachers and a core of freelance musicians who lead the sections.

The orchestra rehearses on Friday evenings at Tilehouse Baptist Church, and performs three times a year.

There are no auditions to join, but the orchestra invites prospective players to join them for a short trial period, after which they may be invited to join.
