1. Los Reyes

When it comes to tapas, you'll be hard pushed to find anywhere better than Los Reyes.

The award-winning restaurant on Bucklersbury offers a wide range of small plates, with the very best of Spanish seafoods, chesses and meats - including garlic butter king prawns which are a personal favourite.

Alongside the food, the service is second to none, while the old brick and wooden frame building provides a cosy space, perfect for a date night with your significant other.

While maybe a bit of the pricey side, it is absolutely worth it. We can't recommend Los Reyes enough and it really is a must-visit in Hitchin.

2. Bar Azita

Bucklersbury is a real hotspot for tapas fans, as just down from Los Reyes lies Bar Azita, another wonderful restaurant for the best in Spanish cuisine.

Time spent in Spain inspired owners Nick and Julie to open Bar Azita, and it is among the best-loved places to eat in Hitchin.

Open for lunch and dinner, all your favourites are on offer in a warm and welcoming space, and at a very resonable price too.

If you haven't eaten at Bar Azita yet, then you really should.

After opening in mid-2021, the Bancroft restaurant has become increasingly popular and is among the best eateries in the town.

Little Monkey serves the best of Thai cuisine, including a selection of mouth-watering curries and street food favourites.

For Thai food lovers, it really is a must-visit.

5. Hermitage Rd Bar and Restaurant

Simply put, this is Hitchin's best fine dining restaurant.

Food at the Hermitage Rd Bar and Restaurant doesn't come cheap, but you are paying for quality food, including some of the the best seafood and steaks around.

Then, on a Sunday, you can head down for brunch, or if you're in the mood for a roast, they don't come much better than at the Hermitage.

Set in an historic ballroom that has hosted stars such as Eric Clapton, it's light, airy and elegant, providing the perfect space to enjoy your meal.

The businesses continues to expand as well, with the opening of an Oyster Bar and Coffee and Bagel Bar on the ground floor.
