The UK's largest community equipment services provider is the latest to join the line-up at a new industrial estate north of Norwich city centre.

Medequip has more than 40 contracts operating out of 26 specially-adapted depots.

Two units at Norwich's Diamond Point are the newest of Medequips depots, spanning more than 33,000 sq ft.

The provider also has a second site at Downham Market.

From April 1, 2023, Medequip will take over the community equipment services contract for Norfolk and Waveney, commissioned by Norfolk County Council.

The new site in Norwich is set to create around 90 jobs for Medequip, with a potential for more recruitment due to the unit's vast size.

Medequip has a fleet of 40 vans, half of which are electric.

It is the latest business to start operating out of Diamond Point, in Diamond Road, Hellesdon.

The firm delivers a wide range of equipment and support to people in their own homes - from rehab to end-of-life care.

Diamond Point is owned by Northwood Urban Logistics and is currently occupied by major firms including Smurfit Kappa, Seward Refrigeration and Xenor.

Anna Smith, commercial surveyor at Brown and Co Norwich - one of the companies marketing available units at Diamond Point - said: "This scheme was launched offering modern, well-designed units providing much-needed investment and innovation in one of the prime industrial and manufacturing areas in Norwich.

"The scheme has attracted some major firms already. However, we are still able to accommodate interested parties with a range of unit sizes and incentives available."

Energy-saving features include the fact units come with an assurance of a minimum 10.83pc decrease in CO2 emissions in accordance with the 2010 Buildings Regulations.

‘Green’ initiatives also include units on a low air permeability design, electric vehicle charging points, photovoltaic panels on some units, increased natural lighting and high-performance insulated cladding and roof materials.

Matt Ward, head of retail and marketing at Medequip added: "The units are of an ideal size for providing a service for storing equipment that's going to be needed in order to provide services to the area.
