The Ely Inner Wheel club has planted a tree in commemoration of our late Queen’s final Jubilee.

The tree was planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy Project which has seen hundreds of thousands of trees planted in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Inner Wheel clubs have across East Anglia have also been planting trees.

The club chose a Flowering Cherry (Sunset Boulevard).

The club said: “We look forward to seeing it blossom in May!”

Constance Heald, Ely Inner Wheel secretary, has been co-ordinating the choice and purchase of the trees with Chris Cant, trees officer for East Cambridgeshire District Council.

The tree was planted in the Ship Lane car park near the Maltings in Ely by an ECDC team on Monday, January 16, with members of the club in attendance.
