A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident at the Our Mutual Friend pub in Stevenage on New Year’s Eve.

Liam Campbell, 25, from Rockingham Way in Stevenage, has been charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (ABH)
  • Affray
  • Possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life
  • Possession of a firearm in a public place

Campbell has been remanded into custody, and will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, February 20.

Police were called to the incident at around 11.20pm on Saturday, December 31 following an altercation at the pub in Broadwater Crescent.

It is reported that the altercation continued outside the pub and a firearm was involved. No one was injured and no damage was caused.

Earlier this week, Charlie Kettle, 24, from Pembridge Gardens, Stevenage, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, in connection with the incident.

He appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ on Tuesday, January 17, and was remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, February 20.

Three other people from Stevenage were arrested on the night - a 26-year-old man on suspicion of affray, and a 22-year-old woman and 44-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
