Photographs depicting a young carer from Stevenage are being displayed in a new exhibition at Stevenage Museum.
'Our Promised Utopia' is a photographic essay by Theo Parke, telling the story of Joe, a young carer with a passion for football who plays for the Bedwell Rangers' inclusive football team.
Joe, leaving his teenage years, has to come to terms with adulthood. He has to overcome financial constrains and disability to care for his family.
The Joe displayed in 'Our Promised Utopia' is split in two: the boy from his childhood who relieves the pressure of adulthood through football; and the man who is the backbone to his family.
All the photographs were taken with an analogue camera, using real film.
The exhibition is free to visit, and will be open until January 28.
Visitors aged 14-21 are invited to a free photography masterclass at the museum on January 25, run by Theo himself. You can have a go at using an old film camera at the masterclass from 4.30-6pm.
The museum's family Saturday on January 14 will also be a celebration of the beautiful game, with free football-themed art and craft activities to join in with. The sessions run from 11am to noon, and from 2pm to 3pm.
