Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is investing more than £1 million in Standalone Farm as it seeks to make it an all-year attraction.
The farm already welcomes more than 80,000 people each year, but it is only open between February and October.
Now, the Heritage Foundation is aiming to turn it into a year-round destination by 2024.
Work is beginning on an expansion to the current car parking facilities at the farm, with the adjacent Greenway car-park now closed.
The current overflow car park is being redesigned with a grid flooring system to enable use, even in the winter. Additional car parking spaces will be created, and walkways and access paths will be improved.
£150,000 has been invested within the farm itself, with new outdoor play equipment installed. The existing park area has been expanded, and will be open to the public when the farm reopens next month.
Investment is also coming in a joint project with Central Bedfordshire Council to build new flood resilience measures around Pix Brook.
The river runs through Standalone Farm and is prone to flooding - the project is designed to reduce this and lessen the impact of heavy rainfall.
Standalone Farm will be the educational hub for that project, with investment from the Heritage Foundation enabling it to offer interactive activities and information for schools and families.

"We want Standalone Farm to stay at the top of visitors to do lists when they’re in the area, and for that to happen, we need to keep moving and reinvesting.
