A cannabis factory has been discovered in St Albans, with an estimated street value of £50,000.

At around 3am this morning (Tuesday, November 29) Hertfordshire police officers were tipped off by CCTV operators, who had spotted suspicious activity near a car in Russell Avenue.

Officers later discovered the car, parked at an address in Stapley Road that had been broken into.

Upon searching the property, over 100 cannabis plants were found across seven rooms.

A 20-year-old man from Stevenage and a 26-year-old of no fixed abode were then arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Both individuals remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

The plants have since been seized and destroyed.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "A cannabis factory with an estimated £50,000 street value was discovered in St Albans this morning (Tuesday 29 November), after officers were tipped off by CCTV operators...
