A care home in Letchworth has won a national catering award at the Vegetarian Life Awards for Excellence.

Satpal Kambo is the chef at Garden City Court, which is run by Quantum Care and based in Whiteway, Letchworth.

At last year's awards she came top in her category by creating a soya-based curry with black lentils and potato croquettes.

This year she was again nominated in the 'most innovative vegetarian dish' category at the awards, which were held on November 23 in the Jubilee Room at the Houses of Parliament.

Satpal won first place for her version of a Dhokla dish served with a mint chutney and finished off with a mango mousse.

Allanah Hudson, Garden City Court’s home manager said: "Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Satpal for her hard work and her success in these awards.

"To win at the awards for a second year in a row is such an incredible achievement. It’s wonderful to see her skills recognized in this way once again!"

Garden City Court provides a variety of care options for residents, including residential and specialist dementia care, as well as a range of short term choices to suit specific needs.
