Isthmian League Premier Division leaders Potters Bar Town have confirmed that manager Samy Moore has left the club.
The shocking news came despite a wonderful start to the season by the Scholars that saw them claim 37 points from 18 games, heading the chasing pack, led by Hornchurch, by one point.
The statement from the club said: "We can confirm that manager Sammy Moore has left Potters Bar Town.
"[Assistant boss] Darren Beale has also left the club.
"Lee Protheroe has been placed in interim charge, stepping up from his role as a coach.
"We would like to place on record our thanks to Sammy and wish him the best of luck in the future.
"We remain ambitious and intend to push for three points in an important clash at the top of the table against Carshalton Athletic this weekend.
"Our targets and ambitions remain exactly the same."
Moore's last game in charge was a 5-2 loss at home to the Urchins.
