The festive season is almost here! Across our towns in North Herts, visitors will officially bring in the yuletide joy with annual Christmas lights switch-on events.

Hitchin

This Saturday (November 19), a Christmas parade, live entertainment and the Christmas tree lights switch on will ring in the festive period in Hitchin town centre.

The big switch on will take place at 6pm, with plenty going on during the build up from noon. Live entertainment will include performances from Connor Wells and Herts Showband.

Letchworth

After having to cancel last year's event due to the weather, the Letchworth Business Improvement District is set to bring a festive extravaganza once again this year with its Christmas fair, lights switch on and a chance to see some real life reindeers.

As a warm up to the big switch on, Santa's sleigh-drivers will be in The Wynd from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, November 19. Pay them a visit before heading over to Leys Square for the monthly Farmers and Craft Market!

The Christmas lights will be switched on following a full day of festivities across the town centre on November 26, from 11am to 7pm.

There will be Christmas craft, food and drink stalls, live music, the traditional Christmas parade and a chance to meet Father Christmas.

With events happening throughout the town, all day, it’s sure to be festive fun for the whole family!

Baldock

Baldock's offering, put on by the town's events forum, promises to be a magical extravaganza!

Following the success of last year's Christmas Fayre Warm Up event, Christmas cheer will kick off on Friday, December 2, ahead of the main event on Saturday (December 3).

Saturday will include live entertainment, a fun fair, and a heated beer tent from 6pm to 10pm.

Organisers took to social media and said: "Last year we introduced the warm up party and it was a massive success! There will be fun fair rides, the international food court will be serving up a variety of cuisines and then of course we have the heated beer marquee with live music. Be sure to join us!"

On Saturday, the event kicks off at 11am when the bar, stalls, fun fair and stage opens. Live music will continue all the way through to 9am.

You can pick up some Christmas presents from the Craft Fair Stalls at St Mary's Church Hall, Baldock Arts Heritage Centre and the community centre until 4.30pm.

The town's Christmas tree will light up following the switch on at 6pm.

Stevenage will also be seeing in the Christmas season in with events in the town centre and Old Town.
