A Welwyn Garden City boy hopes to raise enough money to buy toys for less fortunate children in hospitals this Christmas.

Riley Elliott, who is a martial arts and boxing enthusiast, will be competing in a Jiu Jitsu competition to support children at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The 10-year-old said: “With Christmas fast approaching I understand that not every little boy and girl will be as fortunate as my siblings and I will be at Christmas. Some will be spending their Christmas in the hospital.

“I know some children are limited to what they can do physically and mentally for lots of different reasons, and I understand how lucky I am.”

On Sunday, December 4, Riley will also be competing in a Jiu Jitsu competition and hopes to gain sponsorship for the event while simultaneously raising money.

Daniel Elliott, Riley's father, said: "Myself and all of our family are extremely proud of Riley. His determination to not only follow his dream, but to help others along the way is so inspiring! It's an absolute pleasure to be a part of this journey with him."

“Any donation will be greatly appreciated and hopefully together we can make their Christmas a magical one,” Riley added.

Currently, Riley’s GoFundMe page has raised £55 of the £500 they hope to raise. To donate to his cause, go to the GoFundMe page.
