Work is under way to transform the former Bar & Beyond unit in Stevenage Leisure Park into a Boom Battle Bar - a "competitive socialising" venue offering activities including axe throwing and shuffleboard.
Due to open before the end of next month, the venue is also set to offer curling, boules, pool, table tennis, AR (augmented reality) darts and crazy golf.
Planning permission for change of use was granted by Stevenage Borough Council at the beginning of this year, allowing Boom Battle Bar to offer indoor leisure activities.
The unit has been vacant since Bar & Beyond closed in summer 2020.
The Boom Battle Bar application explains: "We are the nations largest provider of competitive socialising, with a range of activities suitable for every member of the family, and a large selection of on trend hot fresh street food, soft drinks and alcohol.
"A vacant leisure unit will be brought back into active use, generating employment and increasing local expenditure."
The venue is marketed primarily to families, with an adults-only presence after 7pm.
Boom Battle Bar has more than 25 venues across the country, including one in Watford.
