A 20-year-old man from Baldock has been charged with GBH and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place following a stabbing in Stevenage.

Jahsan Richards, from High Street in Baldock, appeared before St Albans Magistrates yesterday (October 24) and was remanded into custody.

He is next due to appear before St Albans Crown Court on November 21.

A 19-year-old man, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been released on police bail until November 21, pending further enquiries.

The incident occurred in Stevenage's High Street, near Lounge 72, at around 3.10am on Sunday, October 23. 

A 21-year-old man sustained a stab wound and was taken to hospital where he remains in a 'critical but stable' condition.

Detective Inspector Chris Ross said: “Although arrests have been made, we are still appealing for witnesses and information as part of our ongoing enquiries. I would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, the events leading up to it, or people leaving the area."
