Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after an assault in Stevenage High Street.

A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been arrested following the incident.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information. The incident occurred in the High Street, near Lounge 72, at around 3.10am yesterday (Sunday, October 23).

A 21-year-old man sustained a stab wound and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

An extensive search of the area was carried out by police and two people were subsequently arrested. They remain in police custody at this time.

A knife has also been recovered.

Detective Inspector Chris Ross said: “Although arrests have been made, we are still appealing for witnesses and information as part of our ongoing enquiries. I would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, the events leading up to it, or people leaving the area.

“There is also a possibility that items may have been discarded in the Walkern Road and Ellis Avenue areas and we’d ask people to please check their gardens for anything of note. If you can help, please contact us.”
