Harry Toffolo has signed for Peterborough United on loan until the end of the season from Premier League Norwich City.

The 20-year-old from Watton-at-Stone has just ended another loan spell at Championship outfit Rotherham United.

Sky Bet League One Peterborough have struggled for back up on the left side of defence of late and Toffolo can fill that void.

Former Stevenage right-sided defensive/midfield player Lawrie Wilson has been The Posh’s makeshift left back following the absence of first choice defender Callum Elder.

Peterborough boss Graham Westley told his club’s official website, “It was a body blow losing Callum Elder, he had been terrific for us down the left hand side.

“He [Wilson] has filled in down the left hand side, but I think that everyone would agree that the balance of our side has been affected by having a right footer at left back.”

Born in Welwyn Garden City, Toffolo joined Norwich City Academy at the age of 12 making his U18 debut for the club at the age of just 15, appearing for the reserves a year later.

The one-time Welwyn Pegasus junior was on loan at League One side Swindon Town last season, before joining Rotherham earlier this term.

Westley added: “Harry is a terrific young player, he showed at Swindon in League One last year what he can do.

“He has gone to the Championship this year and it hasn’t been the most successful loan for him and I think he is delighted to be here, and closer to where his parents live.”
