A YOUNG girl who has been diagnosed with a serious condition has had her dream to be a princess in Disneyland come true thanks to a charity.
Four-year-old Amelia Mahoney visited Disneyland Paris with her family after her mum Natalie contacted wish-granting charity Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The youngster from Vinters Avenue in Stevenage was diagnosed with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome at birth, a condition known as an overgrowth disorder, causing large body size and organs.
Amelia, who is treated for the condition at Great Ormond Street Hospital, is a Disney fanatic and was whisked away for a Christmas treat via the Eurostar after being chosen by Starlight.
Joined by her parents Natalie and Liam and her baby sister Felicity, Amelia met some of her favourite Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as well as being given a Disney princess dress with ‘Princess Amelia’ embroidered on the front.
Reflecting on the trip, mum Natalie said: “Thank you so much to Starlight for organising Amelia’s wish. Amelia loved it so much and it was a very special time for us as a family.”
