Karl Robinson sorry for ‘idiots’ comment following Gary Smith’s departure from the club in March

MK DONS boss Karl Robinson has apologised to the Stevenage board ahead of this weekend’s clash between the two sides.

Graham Westley’s Boro side host MK on Saturday in the last game of the season with little more than pride to play for, but ahead of the game Robinson issued an apology through his own club’s website for comments made following the departure of Gary Smith from Stevenage last month.

Reacting to the news of a change of manager at Boro, Robinson used the word ‘idiots’ towards the Boro board.

Speaking today, Robinson told www.mkdons.com: “I’ve got an apology to make because after the sacking of Gary Smith, who’s a good friend of mine, I used the word ‘idiots’ towards the (Stevenage) board and it’s not acceptable by me, as a manager, to say them sort of things.

“I hope the board will accept my apology because it was one said in frustration and anger and it’s a learning curve for me as well.

“The people of Milton Keynes know I’m a very passionate man, which is one of my strengths but also a weakness of mine.

“I’ve got an apology to make to them and hopefully the chairman and the rest of the board can accept that.”

While Westley took the opportunity to look at one or two players at Swindon Town last week, Robinson is expected to blood one or two youngsters during tomorrow’s encounter.

MK Dons have sold around 700 tickets for the game.
