WORK on new fitness studios at a swim centre will begin next month, after a contractor was appointed to carry out the project.
North Herts District Council has appointed Borras Construction Ltd to carry out the work at Hitchin Swimming Centre.
The new facilities will include multi-functional studios, air conditioning and updated changing facilities.
It follows council approval earlier this year, with plans to complete the works by the end of 2013.
Mike Howlett, contracts director at Borras Construction, said: “This is an exciting project that will provide improved facilities for the local community and we are really looking forward to starting work on site.”
