YOUNG carers are used to juggling their busy lives with caring for loved ones, but last week they were juggling for real.

Carers in Hertfordshire organised a circus workshop for youngsters who help look after someone in their family who is ill or disabled.

The young group enjoyed unicycling, plate spinning and juggling at the session, and also had the chance to meet other young people in the same position.

Oliver Northam, 10, from Hitchin, was one of those who went along.

He said: “I love being part of the young carers groups.

“They make me feel more confident and this was a really fun way to express ourselves and do something different.”

Martin Hill, leader of Herts Young Carers, which has been working with Carers in Hertfordshire, added: “This activity was a fantastic opportunity for young carers across Hertfordshire to meet together to have fun and learn new skills.”
