A SUPERMARKET has handed over a cheque for more than £1700 after a series of fundraising events for its charity of the year.
Staff at Sainsbury’s Coreys Mill store in Stevenage made the donation to Stevenage Haven, a hostel which provides emergency accommodation in the Old Town for homeless people.
The majority of money was raised from a sponsored sleepout, when members of staff at the story spent 10 hours sleeping outside in December, with temperatures reaching -2 degrees Celsius.
Other activities included a teddy competition, baking sales and customer donation bucket collections.
