It will be full steam ahead for a town this weekend.
Stotfold Watermill will be holding its Working Steam Weekend today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) to showcase some of the steam-driven machinery that revolutionised 19th century farming.
Visitors can see ploughing, threshing and wood-cutting, all done by steam power, replacing hundreds of hours of laborious work, previously done by men and horses.
There will also be a variety of stalls offering country crafts and foods, including press pressed apple juice, as well as a beer tent.
The mill will be open to visitors who can see grain being threshed by steam power and delivered to the mill, before being ground by the millstones. The end products - wholemeal or white flour, or bran are available to buy, as well as bread made from the mill flour.
Opening hours are 10.30am to 5 pm on both days. Tickets cost £3; children under four have free entry. Tickets for Senior Citizens and for children aged 4-16 cost £2.
The nature reserve will not be open during the weekend.
