A protest over violence against women was held on Saturday.
As part of International Women’s Day, people stood on the footbridge linking Stevenage Railway Station with the town centre to protest about violence shown against women.
International Women’s Day was started in 1911 and celebrates women’s economic, political and social achievements, as well as recognising struggles faced worldwide.
Yesterday (Sunday), there was also an event in Stevenage Town Square, including live entertainment headlined by Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gabz Gardiner.
Organised by Stevenage World Forum, the Inspiring Change event provided information on health and social care issues of interest to women, as well as details on educational and leisure opportunities available in Stevenage.
Kate Belinis, chairman of Stevenage World Forum, said: “Women’s International Day was celebrated in style this year in Stevenage.
“Sunday was a huge success, enjoyed by all those present - women, young people, families and the many voluntary and public organisations who gave up their time and supported the event.”
