Roads have been closed in Stevenage today after a 19kg fuel tank exploded.
The explosion happened just after 2pm on Rockingham Way when the tank, filled with LPG gas, exploded on a white line painting lorry.
The fire bridge were called to the scene but the explosion occurred before they arrived.
The fire injured the driver and he was taken to Lister Hospital with burns to one of his arms.
Herts police closed several roads including Rockingham Way at the junction with Six Hills Way, Elder Way at the junction with Monkswood Way and Elder Way at the junction with Buckthorn Avenue, while the fire was put out.
The scene was declared safe at 2.26pm and the roads reopened by 3pm.
It is not known the extent of the man’s injuries.
No one else was injured in the explosion.
