Stevenage defender rues ‘little mistakes’ that cost team points at Newport
Dean Wells says Stevenage must not get disheartened as they look to turn around their current form.
The Boro defender was part of the side that lost 2-0 to Newport County at the weekend, a result that saw the club drop to 15th in the League Two table.
Two goals from set pieces did for Stevenage on Saturday, and the centre-half says his team must stop ‘switching off at vital times’.
“It’s coming down to the same things,” Wells said. “It’s the little mistakes [that are proving costly].
“Switching off at vital times, it’ll cost you in the league. We’ve worked on [three at the back] all week, we felt comfortable. We didn’t get cut open, it was just sloppy mistakes from set pieces.
“We’ve got to work hard and stay together, which we are as a team, and take that togetherness on the pitch and pick up performances.”
