A Hitchin policeman who has been charged with rape and other sexual offences appeared in crown court for the first time today.
PC Leigh Brightman, of Tennyson Avenue was charged with the rape of a girl aged between 13 and 15, and 11 other offences at Luton Crown Court today.
No pleas were formally taken at today’s preliminary hearing with the plea and management date set for April 24 at Luton Crown Court.
The provisional date for the trial is set for July if no guilty plea is lodged prior to the date.
PC Brightman, 36, is currently suspended from the Hertfordshire Constabulary pending the outcome of the investigation.
