A policeman who served in Hitchin appeared in court this morning charged with 12 offences including rape.
Leigh Brightman, of Tennyson Avenue in the town, heard the charges today at Luton Magistrates’ Court.
The 36-year-old was charged with rape on a girl aged between 13 and 15, two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child, five counts of making indecent photographs of a child and four counts of wilful misconduct while holding a public position.
The officer at Hertfordshire Constabulary, who was suspended after being arrested in August, was released on bail ahead of an appearance at Luton Crown Court on January 27.
