The daughter of an elderly woman who had a valuable bracelet stolen is hoping that it will be returned before a milestone birthday.

Liz Seabrook was staying at The Sun Hotel in Hitchin last month after travelling from Dorset to see her daughter Hilary Robertson when a gold bracelet with about 30 charms on it was taken.

Police have released a picture of the bracelet this week in the hope it can be returned, and Hilary said it would be the perfect birthday present for her mum who will be celebrating her 80th birthday in February.

She said: “The charms were all bought individually by my mum over the last 50 years from places she has visited so it is completely irreplaceable. The value of the bracelet is not important, it’s what it means.

“It’s my mum’s 80th birthday next month so if we could get it back it would be incredible.”

Investigating officer PC Johnie Streeter said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have found this bracelet or who has been offered it for sale to please get in touch. I’d also be interested to hear from anyone who has any information about the theft.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.
