A teenager has been taken to hospital and was pulled out of mud by paramedics after becoming stuck in a Hitchin river.
One fire crew from Hitchin and another from Baldock attended the scene at 12.30pm after a teenage boy became stuck in mud on the bank of the River Purwell by Cambridge Road.
The boy was then taken to hospital.
An eyewitness at The Millstream pub opposite Purwell Meadows told the Comet: “He was in the water for 15 minutes. He was walking across the ice in the Purwell Meadows.
“He appeared to be in his late teens. He looked absolutely freezing when he was pulled out. He was wrapped in a blanket and moving but he looked quite pale.”
