Time is running out for you to send nominations in for this year’s Comet Community Awards.
We’ve had hundreds of nominations for people who help make a difference on a daily basis across 12 categories – including Great and Green, Good Neighbour and Lifetime Achievement.
But you can still put forward that special someone ahead of the deadline which closes at 5pm on Tuesday, April 28.
Once all nominations are in, a panel of judges made up of the award sponsors will be sitting down at the end of next week to discuss the entries and make some difficult decisions.
Up to four nominees for each category will then be announced as finalists, and invited to a glitzy awards ceremony being held at the The Forum Conference and Banqueting Suite in Stevenage town centre on May 15.
Guests will be treated to entertainment and food before the award winners are revealed by host and Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft.
Sponsoring the Nurse/Care Worker of the Year category is Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin, which has been backing the annual awards for many years.
The hospital’s marketing manager Christine Scott said: “We have some great nurses and health care workers here at Pinehill and really appreciate the difference these people can make when people are ill or feeling vulnerable.
“But we also know that there are many people in the area who should be recognised for the vital role they play in helping people in the wider community, so would urge family and friends to make a nomination on their behalf.”
Comet editor John Francis, who will also be helping judge the nominations, added: “We’ve already received an amazing response across all categories for this year’s awards and I am sure it is going to be a real test for the judges to decide who carries off top honours this year.
“But that doesn’t mean people aren’t welcome to make that job even tougher by nominating their own unsung heroes.
“I’m looking forward to a memorable night when the awards are presented, and the chance to meet so many people who make us proud to live in Stevenage and North Herts.”
