A multi-million pound scheme aimed at delivering superfast broadband to nearly 100 per cent of addresses in the county has just received a £13.9 million boost.
Connected Counties – a partnership made up of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire county councils and BT – was on course to provide high-speed fibre-optic broadband to 90 per cent of houses and businesses in Herts by March 2016. This will now be increased by 400,000 to 98 per cent after the project received the additional money.
Councillor Chris Hayward is responsible for enterprise at the council and said: “This is good news for everybody in the county. It’s important infrastructure that will show everyday benefits for thousands of homes and businesses. For homes, it will provide a fast and reliable connection for studying online, playing games and downloading music or films.”
