The Stevenage Old Town branch of NatWest bank will close in October after the number of people using its services has significantly fallen.
The number of transactions taking place at the branch has dropped by 17 per cent since 2011, with 85 customers using the branch on a regular basis.
A spokeswoman for the national bank said: “We are working hard to ensure there are a number of alternative ways for people in the area to continue to bank with us.”
Customers can check their balance, deposit and withdraw funds from the nearby Post Office just opposite in Waitrose, where business customers can also get coinage. The nearest NatWest branch will be in Queensway in the town centre. The bank will shut its doors on October 26.
Overall, branch transactions have declined by around 36 per cent since 2010, whilst online and mobile transactions have grown.
