A Stevenage man who worked at an American-style children’s summer camp has been accused of conspiring to cause cruelty to a child.

Tal Landsman was also charged with perverting the course of justice when he was arrested by police at his home in Admiral Drive on Thursday.

Det Chief Insp Dave Newsome, from Herts police, said: “We fully understand that parents and professionals will be concerned due to the nature of the investigation, but we are making significant progress to determine the full facts of what remains a complex investigation.”

The 25-year-old worked at LL Camps, based at St Margaret’s School in Borehamwood, alongside camp director Ben Lewis.

The camp was shut by Ofsted in August after Mr Lewis, of Lullington Garth, Borehamwood, was accused of three offences in connection with indecent images of children.

Mr Lewis, 25, has since appeared at St Albans Crown Court and has been remanded in custody before another hearing on Friday, October 23.

Two other people were arrested on Thursday in connection with the investigation by the force’s Joint Child Protection Investigation Unit.

Larry Lewis, of Lullington Garth in Borehamwood, has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The 55-year-old was arrested at his home address.

Adrianne Landsman, 56 and of Gresham Road in Edgware, has been charged with conspiracy to wilfully neglect children so as to expose them to risk of harm.

All of the alleged offences relate to the potential destruction of evidence, obstructing police in their inquiries and of the failure to properly safeguard children at the camp between August 1 and August 27.

All three people have been released on bail and will appear before St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 6.

Since the allegations the camp has been indefinitely closed and its Facebook page deleted.

The camp is run independently of St Margaret’s School.

Anyone with information about the offences is asked to contact Herts police on 101.
