A man was arrested and a pub in Stevenage Old Town closed last night after a substance was sprayed on to glasses.
Police were called to the Wetherspoon Standing Order pub in Stevenage High Street just before 8pm to reports a substance had been sprayed on glasses, causing some customers’ eyes to run and resulting in coughing.
The pub was temporarily shut and a 25-year-old man was arrested by officers, before being released without charge after it was established the substance was a chilli spray.
