Stevenage police officers have been saluted for their work to tackle the problem of domestic abuse.
Operation Acorn, led by Det Insp Hannah Mann and Chief Insp Richard Harbon, was recognised at the National College of Policing Awards.
Under Operation Acorn, domestic abusers are asked if they want to change their ways – those saying they do are monitored by GPS and given advice and support.
The operation has received visits from the shadow policing minister Jack Dromey, the Home Office and Swedish police.
Chief Insp Harbon said:
“All officers, staff and partner agencies involved in Operation Acorn should be extremely proud. Its success is being used as a beacon for good practice nationally and we can only build on that.”
