Pupils from a Hitchin school brightened up the day for supermarket shoppers by singing a collection of Christmas carols.

The Whitehill Junior School youngsters sang a medley of traditional festive songs to cheer up customers at the town centre branch of Sainsbury’s, near to Bancroft.

Teacher Suzanne Walton said: “We have some very talented singers. It is lovely to get the chance to sing for an audience. Thank you to all the shoppers who supported us.”

Pupils also visited Gosmore Care Home to share some seasonal goodwill with the staff and people living there.

Mrs Walton added: “I particularly like going to Gosmore as it is a great community project.

“It also ties in nicely with the one of the school’s aims which is helping in the community.”
