Proposals to self-manage the two main Baldock allotment sites were carried forward by a majority of more than 80 per cent at a meeting at St Mary’s Church.
The historic decision will put the management of the allotment sites at North Road and Clothall Road from North Herts District Council into the hands of the Baldock Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Association, following its extraordinary general meeting on Wednesday last week.
Following the meeting – which was well-attended by members and non-members – there is much work to be done for the association.
Meetings have been arranged to finalise tenancy agreements and strategy before January’s AGM and the association hope to have the changeover process completed by February.
For more information on taking a plot at the allotment sites next year, or on meeting times, ring chairman Mick Camp on 01462 895665.
