A Welwyn Garden City mother and daughter slept out in the cold to help raise money for a homeless charity.
Leigh Stoton and her 17-year-old daughter Charlotte braved temperatures as low as 3°C when they swapped their warm beds for cardboard and a sleeping bag in London.
Mum-of-two Leigh said: “We always wanted to help the homeless.”
On October 27, the pair raised money for Streets of London, a charity which supports those living on the streets around the city.
Leigh added: “We can now empathise more now that we’ve done it.
“I am especially proud of Charlotte, who is in the middle of her A-levels.
“We did encounter the constant noise of sirens, the bitter cold night and the discomfort of sleeping on just a cardboard box in a sleeping bag.
“I would encourage anyone to donate to this charity.”
The sleep-out raised £340, adding to the £26,000 already raised across the country.
Leigh has also recently attended training at the Hatfield Night Shelter for the winter and invites other to do so too.
