An opening date for Hitchin Town Hall and Museum has been narrowed down – providing legal proceedings are successful.
North Herts District Council has revealed the town hall at 14/15 Brand Street is set to open ‘by May 2016’ following a dispute with Hitchin Town Hall Ltd – the company formed to oversee the running of the site.
With the town hall opening pencilled in for May, the museum will open as soon as legal and contractual proceedings are successfully concluded with HTH Ltd.
Councillor Tony Hunter, who is responsible for community engagement at the district council, said: “I’d like to thank people for bearing with us during the course of this difficult project.
“I hope they will soon realise the refurbished town hall and museum will truly be assets which will serve the community magnificently for years to come.”
