A drug addict who stole hundreds of pounds worth of Lego from the Stevenage branch of Toys R Us has been given a suspended jail sentence.
Stevenage magistrates heard on Wednesday that Colin Hemmings, of Grimstone Road in Little Wymondley, had stolen various items of Lego worth a total of £419.94 on July 23.
The 47-year-old initially denied the charge before changing his plea to guilty. The bench noted that he was a prolific offender and imposed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Hemmings was also ordered to pay £419.94 in compensation and to have drug dependency treatment for six months.
