A £50,000 project to renovate the Jackmans Community Centre in Letchworth has been completed after two years of hard work.
The project was carried out by the Community Centre Committee, supported by grants from North Herts District Council and the Letchworth Heritage Foundation.
Committee chairman Alan Bryl said: “We’d just like to thank everyone who helped. It’s been a real community effort.”
Alastair Stewart, who is responsible for charitable services at the Heritage Foundation, said: “We are very pleased to have been able to support this project.
“Our grant of £7,000 alongside significant financial support from the district cuncil has enabled the Community Centre Committee to create a high quality, much needed community meeting space.
“This new multipurpose space will add to the breadth of activities at the centre and generate additional income to support the day to day running costs of the centre.”
