A woman died after going into cardiac arrest last night in Letchworth despite the best efforts of paramedics – including crew members from the East Anglian Air Ambulance – to save her.
The ambulance service was called at 5.15pm after reports that a 46-year-old woman was not breathing at an address in Baldock Road.
Paramedics were on the scene within five minutes, with an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer all called to assist.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended, landing at nearby Pixmore Junior School in Rushby Mead at about 5.40pm.
Despite the best efforts of all the paramedics, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were also called and said the woman’s death, although unexplained, was not being treated as suspicious.
The case will now be passed on to the coroner.
