Storm Doris is bringing strong gales across North Herts all day, as well as causing travel disruption – with the Met Office issuing an amber weather warning relating to high winds.
Across Hitchin, Letchworth and Stevenage it is expected to be very windy with gales throughout the day, as well as heavy rain.
Highways England tweeted a warning to drivers this morning to rethink their travel plans in light of the severe weather.
On the East Coast main line from London King’s Cross to Yorkshire, Newcastle and Scotland, Network Rail has imposed a speed restriction north of Hitchin between 11am and 6pm.
Luton Airport has stated it is currently experiencing high winds at the airport, but is operating as normal with some arrivals and departures subject to minimal delays. Passengers are advised to check in as normal.

The Met Office forecasts a top temperature of 10 degrees C and a minimum of 2 degrees C in the area.
Tonight showers are likely to continue.
Tomorrow it is expected to be a cold morning, with sunny spells and any showers easing.
Saturday to Monday the Met Office has said it will be cloudy, mild but windy on Saturday, with some rain possible.
Sunday is said to be mostly dry but cloudy with rain predicted for Monday morning.
